Who we are
The UIC Sociology department includes students and faculty from across the U.S. and around the world. Our faculty excel in teaching, research, and service—we regularly receive awards for teaching, win grants for research, and are elected to important leadership positions in the academy. We are also a group that is deeply engaged with the world beyond the academy, informing policymaking, working with community groups, and engaging with the media in all its forms to shape the public discourse about the important social issues we study.
